Little Mr. Parker

So, I did it, I took the big plunge! I have a new little kitten living with me, and his name is Parker. He's a litter mate and brother of Jason's cat (Timmy), so they can be friends. haha, I'm so sure that cats really have thriving social lives, but hey, its a nice thought! Technically he's here on a trial basis. Just in case he and Mojo don't get along, or he is the devil incarnate, I can take him back and they'll find him another home. I think that I'm going to like him a whole lot really quickly though, so it may be a tough goodbye if it needs to come to that........we're not going to think about that though, only happy thoughts about Parker. I've decided that he may not be that photogenic, but I'll give you a picture to check out anyway. In case the picture isn't clear and you are DYING to know what he looks like, he is white with an orange and white striped tail and faintly orange ears and big blue eyes (which I still need to clean around, I think that he has some allergies.)
Parker and Mojo's first meeting....it actually went fairly well, 'til the little growls and hisses
Here is the little Mr. Parker chilling on my bed, which he must currently be napping underneath, or else I've already lost him......haha, lets hope that he's napping!

Kittens and Penguins and Food, OH MY!

For quite some time now, I've been considering getting a kitten. Now Jason got a new kitten and I think that it re-ignited all of my desires to have my own little kitten! He is the most adorable little fellow that you ever did see (the kitten that is, although Jason's not so bad either ;) I just wonder how a kitten would fair at our apartment with hyper Miss Mojo (Jillian's dog) Hm....lots of decisions to make! I'll be sure to keep you guys updated of course if I do in fact get a little furry fellow of my very own, cause I'll probably need some help naming it too!

Come to think of it, I think that yesterday was quite an animal filled day for me. I decided that it was time that I see my THIRD movie this week and went to see The March of the Penguins. For those of you who have no idea what this movie is, it is a documentary about the Emperor Penguins of Antartica. It was a fantastic movie! The photography was beautiful, the story was touching and the ways of nature were unbelievable. I also learned a few truths about life....even female penguins get in fights over males. Now I tell you what, I'm not sure if this was encouraging or just a little bit depressing. I guess that it just means that chicks fighting over dudes is a way of the world and we better get used to it, cause looks like its here to stay! (Not that I've EVER had a part in any such activity, its just something that I've observed over the last 24 years)

In case you're wondering about the food.....as some of you may know, I've been attempting to get in better shape for my lovely sister Britteny's wedding in November. And, they say that losing weight is 80% about what you eat or something crazy like that. Now, its been five weeks since I started this little regimen and sometimes there are just foods that you really really miss. I'd like to let you guys know what it is that I often daydream about these days. Not only is it lovely and appealing to the eye, but WOW it was the most delicious thing that I've had in....well, maybe ever?!? Keep in mind folks, this was at a fondue restaurant, so all of this yummy goodness was dipped into a chocolate, caramel fondue! Nuff said....I'll just let you drool over it on your own!

Well, that was a fun little daydream that I just had....time to get ready to work out, haha :)

PS...For those of you who asked or cared, the little tool from Africa is indeed a bottle opener, not only for beer though Catherine ;) I know some of you already talked about it on IM, but for the rest of those curious minds.....there ya have it!

Africa....safely home with an interesting gift!

So, my dad just got back from a two week mission trip to Africa! I'm very happy that he is home safely. It is always a bit scary to know that someone that you love is that far away, especially when it is a potentially dangerous situation! Never underestimate the power of prayer though, the Lord is always there to listen and to protect those that we love. While in Africa, my dad and the team that he was with were able to serve the Lord and many adults and children committed to Christ. The Lord really is amazing!

Here is my dad and some of the other people that were there sharing the word of God...(for those of you who don't know, my dad is the one in the tan hat!)

My dad also brought me back a gift from Africa.

When I got to his house he hands it to me and says, here you go, any idea what it is? Well, to tell you the truth (and I don't think that you'd be surprised) I had no idea at all what it was. I'm not sure if you can see it well, but in the center of the round part is a screw. The screw sticks out very slightly and is nearly flush with the lip. I'll let you guys see if you know and give you just a few of the clues that he gave me.

1. The screw is a necessary part

2. This is a tool that they use very often.

3. It is something that we can put to use here in the United States, however we do not have as much of a need for it as they do.

So....any ideas what it might be? It makes a whole lot of sense once you know.....I'll be sure and let you guys know later. Comment with your guesses if you want to, or else, maybe I won't ever tell anyone what it is :)

P.S. Jillian figured it out amazingly quick, she is one smart cookie!!

and......goodnight all, those pictures proved to be tricky for some reason, so this took way longer than I intended for it to!!
